Mosquito nets for a baby cot and pram
A child sleeps for most of the day in the first year, much of it in a cot, and often outdoors in a pram. A net over the cot or the pram keeps the mosquito off the child without putting anything into the air they breathe. Mosticare makes two: one for the cot at home, one for the pram out of doors.
The cot net, Bambino Dorme
The Bambino Dorme is a rectangular cot canopy measuring 150 × 100 × 100 cm, sized to standard cot and cradle footprints with a metre of headroom. It drops over the cot's four corner posts or suspends from a single ceiling hook above the cradle.
It is factory-coated with permethrin and Mosticare assessed infant safety for the family using the World Health Organization's risk-calculation methodology. It packs to 250 g, so it also travels with a fold-out cot, and it stays above the cot for the whole mosquito season once it is up.
The pram net, Bambino Carello
The Bambino Carello is a drop-over canopy for a pram or buggy, sized to a 150 cm perimeter and packed at 70 g. The elasticated hem tensions over the hood or the footwell so it stays put while the pram moves.
The Carello is left uncoated. There is no permethrin and no biocide on the mesh, so nothing sits on the fabric inches from a child's face. It can be washed gently, because there is no coating to strip out.
Choose by where the child sleeps
For the cot, cradle or bassinet at home, choose the Bambino Dorme. For the pram, the buggy, the park bench and the dusk walk, choose the Bambino Carello, which is uncoated and lives in the changing bag.
For a toddler bed that has outgrown the cot, step up to the Cubo Uno, which is sized for a European single mattress. For an outdoor nap on open ground, the uncoated Igloo Bambino is the freestanding option.
Fit and care
On the cot, tuck the hem under the mattress on every side to close the envelope around the sleeping child. On the pram, tension the hem so no gap opens over the seat.
Inspect the mesh before each season and repair small tears before they grow. Wash the Carello gently and air-dry it in shade; never wash the coated Dorme, and replace it when its three-year effective life ends.
